BUSINESS ESSENTIALS
â Take every opportunity you can to delegate tasks to your team. You will all benefit from it.
â When youâre delegating a task, take some time to pick the right person for it, rather than handing out work randomly to the next person who passes your desk. If at all possible, tailor tasks you delegate to the people with the right skills for them, or those who have the potential to develop such skills.
â When youâre discussing a task with the person who will be taking charge of it, give as much information as you can about what you are expecting, the deadline, and any other relevant information. Encourage your team member to ask as many questions as they need in order to feel confident about it.
â Be ready to answer any extra queries as and when they come up. Itâs important to offer support while at the same time letting the other person get on with the job.
â Donât interfere if things are going well!
â When the task is over, review it with the team member, offering praise, feedback and learning points as appropriate. Make a note of successes and let your own managers know of other peopleâs successes.
