Tom caressed her arm and began to slip off her shirt.

Jenny pulled away.

“What’s the matter, Hon?”

“I just had a baby and I look so...fat.”

“You look great.”

“Liar.”

“I am not a liar. You do look great.”

Jen then lifted her shirt and said, “This looks great, this three inches of fat around my middle, yeah, right.” She grasped onto the flab with both hands.

Tom responded by gazing at her as if she was the most beautiful woman in the world.

Jenny began to sob. Tom had a remarkable talent for making her feel like the most beautiful, desirable woman in the world, despite her imperfections, despite the extra weight she had gained. Tom was such a wonderful man and how blessed she was to have found him so early in her life. They had built a beautiful, happy life together.

She had only been away from her family for 24 hours and yet it seemed like an eternity. Only five days to go before she was scheduled to have a C-section, but Jenny couldn’t think of that right now. She knew that she would have to focus on keeping herself and Little Buddy alive.
