Orienting Your New Board Members

When you add someone to your board, the CEO, along with one of the existing board members, should take the responsibility for orienting the new board member. New board members should be familiar with the legal structure and capitalization of the company, understand the current business model, and be up to speed on the status of the company.

While many companies handle this informally, a board orientation package is a good discipline for helping integrate a new board member. Think of this as what you would use to orient a new employee with a few extra items, including:
