A hover bike raced toward Anakin and

Qui-Gon as they neared their ship. A cloaked

creature with a red-and-black face flipped over

the bike, activated a lightsaber, and launched

himself at Qui-Gon.

Anakin scrambled onto the starship as Qui-

Gon began to duel the mysterious opponent.

The hum of clashing weapons echoed across

the desert as the creature’s powerful strokes

drove Qui-Gon backward. The Jedi’s lightsaber

shook as he blocked the intruder’s blows. Qui-

Gon couldn’t hold him off much longer!

Just as the creature jumped into the air to

strike Qui-Gon down, the Jedi leapt onto the

lowered ramp of the ship. The doors closed

and the starship flew away. Qui-Gon had

escaped!
