John Lever was a left-arm fast-medium bowler who played his club cricket for Essex and internationally for England in 21 Tests and 22 One Day Internationals. Lever made an immediate impact in his first Test against India by taking 7 wickets for 46 runs and 3 for 24 at Delhi in December 1976. However, it wasn't his performance as a bowler that was to be remembered from this tour.
