CHAPTER 5

Scarlett looked at Aides, she didn’t get it ever since he consumed her. She couldn’t get him out of her mind. He was a permanent fixture now. Before, she was very quiet with the way she felt about him. She thought him beautiful, gorgeous even, but it was hard for her to have to see him sometimes.

Lately, he was avoiding her, especially with eye contact. He protected her that was for sure, but he didn’t acknowledge her like he used to do. It was as if the moment she admitted to him being her soul, he was hesitant, but he was Aides, how could he be anything but pure perfection. He moved her in a home where he told her he was staying with her so that nothing could happen to her. He had a kingdom, but he was here, playing sexy bodyguard with her. It made Scarlett question every single thing.

Questions such as why didn’t he want her as much as she wanted him?

He was there at every turn for her and her like had grown into love, but she never saw the same in his eyes. Scarlett sighed, watching him as he stared out at nothing but the landscaping in the backyard. She knew it bothered him to be on earth this long. He never came to stay with her for longer than a couple of hours telling her that he preferred his kingdom over earth. He had everything he needed, so earth was merely a two-second glance.

She could handle everything by herself just as she had been doing so Aides could go back to where he belongs. The idea didn’t sit well with her, but she knew better than to keep something that wasn’t hers.

“You should go back,” She said to his back.

She loved the way he looked right now. His back to her as he wore a tee-shirt that clung to his body. The curves in his biceps stood out, and the flexing of his arms made his tattoos look as if they were dancing around on his arms. He had his hair up in a weird, messy bun which put his back more on display. His back muscles seemed to tense at her words; maybe he hadn’t known she was there watching him the whole time.

Aides turned and looked at Scarlett as she stood there in her black yoga pants and a gray cropped hoodie. He inwardly groaned at the sight of her. Her skin reminded him of a lake of pure dark chocolate that seemed to have no ends. Her hair looked revived from when she first appeared at Alcide’s house. Her hair cascaded down her back in unruly curls that framed her face. Aides couldn’t help it as his eyes trailed down her body. Everything about it screamed at him to look. Her ample breasts, her shapely hips, and thighs, the dangerous way her stomach wasn’t flat but complimented her body even more. He cleared his throat and looked up at her beautiful face that he was trying to avoid.
