So, how do you know if you trust someone enough to barter with them? You have to get to know the people in your area now. By SHTF, it will be too late. Get to know your neighbors. You do not let them know that you’re basically vetting them for bartering, because that will make you look crazy. Just start saying “hello” and invite them over for dinner. The people closest to you geographically will be the first people who can help you (and who you can help) when SHTF, so you want to know if they’re good people or not. A good bartering partner is someone who is reliable, responsible, calm under pressure, and honest.
