My research associate and I observed and took notes throughout the Tribunal’s hearing over 13 days in August/September 1993. This account relies substantially on the judgment handed down by the Tribunal and our observation of events recorded in contemporaneous notes taken during proceedings.

In court proceedings character references typically go to sentence not to the question of guilt or not.

The decision of the Appeal Court some years later was to constitute another significant attempt by the judiciary to address the scandal of lawyers, i.e. solicitors’ and barristers’ fees.
