Glue the dowel into the end of the pipe. Tap it into place with a mallet if it is slightly large, though make sure it is not too big.

Here is what the plug should look like from the end.

Draw a line to mark where you will cut the mouthpiece. You have a lot of freedom with this one, as long as you don’t cut past the one inch dowel stopper.

One way to make the mouthpiece more comfortable is to round the sides.

In the process of rounding, bringing the edge closest to the mouth down will allow the mouthpiece to sit better while you play the flute.
