Golden Items and Going the Extra Mile

Prepper millionaire is not about becoming rich beyond your wildest dreams. It’s about living comfortably when people all around you are struggling to survive. This subject is for when you feel your goals for being prepared have been met i.e. food, water, security, medical, power, shelter and clothing. I know we never feel completely prepared, but I think you understand what I mean.

It’s time to focus on golden items for barter. One of my favorites and there are many, are vices. People who are addicted to anything will be the most desperate. But let me be crystal clear, they will also be the most dangerous. If you are financially able to, stock up on cigarettes, chewing tobacco, dip and alcohol. The leverage you will have over people with these vices will put you in a very powerful position. It can also mark you with a huge bulls-eye. This entire category is high stakes. You will either come out a victorious king or lose everything including your life, more often than not.

Another great category is medical. This is a golden item, not only for you and your family, but for bartering, it will be absolutely priceless. If you have the capability, knowledge or resources to save someone’s life, that alone will set you apart. I would say go all in with the medical category. But how do know when you run into this type or that they even have anything worth trading? Any man who could possibly lose his wife or child would do anything or give up everything to save their lives. In my opinion, I would not ask him to give up the farm. I would barter a trade more in my favor but still fair knowing that I have probably gained a new asset…someone who might still feel indebted to me. Noticed I said might and probably. This is a judgment call. One of the few times I let my feelings get involved is when I meet people for the first time. Call me crazy if you want, but I can feel in my gut when I am dealing with someone I shouldn’t be.

To me growing a network of people that you can deal with fairly will be a huge obstacle. When I would deal with these desperate types in the military, I would always end the conversation with” You know you still owe me right?” Even though they just traded a week of their time for some cigarettes, at least 70% of the time they agreed.

When I was in the field or deployed, the majority of the time these were the type of people I was dealing with. Now I knew I wouldn’t lose my life over a bad deal. An Article 15 was the worst case scenario for me. I really want you to understand the tremendous favor I was given by developing those relationships and trading.

One example was when we would return to Garrison (our barracks) after training in the field for a month or so.
