1. Appointment

2. Briefing

3. Control

4. Appraisal

MAKE YOUR APPOINTMENT

After you've decided which tasks you'll pass along, Heller says you should sort them. Break them down and figure out what will be required to complete each one. I agree. This is so you can determine who best to "appoint" or delegate the task to.

Heller brings up another valid point here. He recommends going against an often natural instinct to always delegate only to those employees who know how to do the task at hand. I agree. Instead you should use delegation as an opportunity to teach your employees new skills. This will surely pay off later. Plus, by keeping your employees challenged you will give them a sense of self-worth which will be reflected in their work for you.
