b Checklist.

Clinical Interpretation

The asymmetry is an important factor in sustaining the pelvic obliquity.

Kinematics: Asymmetry of the feet translates to other body segments.

Kinetics: Asymmetrical muscle strength has a potentiating effect on the malalignment.

The shortening of the adductors and the lengthening of the abductors on the right side exacerbates the lateral pelvic tilt.

Considerations for Further Examination

Precise testing of muscle functioning is essential to objectify the asymmetry. Hypothetically elongated muscles, in particular, should be tested at the shortest range (abductors on right side and quadratus lumborum on left side).

Summary

At present there are no direct studies proving the correlation between musculoskeletal symptoms and malalignment. Clinical experience shows, however, that malalignment due to deviations can exacerbate or prolong the pathological condition. The largely subjective nature of the examination procedures is problematic. Their value depends on the clinical experience of the therapist. It is all the more important to systematically use the few available parameters that can help make the results objectifiable.
