And it was 100% my own fault.
I should have known better than to let my inner nice guy out of his dungeon that day. (And yes, my inner nice guy has long since been blindfolded, put on his knees, and shot in the head execution-style.)
Listen up, listen good, and never forget, Villain:
Being nice is one of the worst things you can ever do not only to yourself, but to everyone around you. Being nice makes you the exact opposite of a charismatic and influential Villain (it’s right up there with being needy)... and does nothing but leave a swath of destruction in its wake every time.
I learned this a long time ago.
(The hard way.)
I was not born a Villain. Frankly, I was the exact opposite of a Villain for most of my life. I was syrupy nice and sweet to everyone. I always put other people before myself. Did favors for people who didn’t deserve it. Let people walk all over me. Allowed dames to use me for time, money, and resources (without giving up anything in return). And (worst of all) even gave respect to those who didn’t respect me back.
Needless to say, life sucked.
That is, until one day I asked myself:
