PUMPKIN CAKE DONUTS

We make these donuts regularly at the bakery during the fall and winter months—and during the rest of the year for special orders when people can’t get enough of them! This is a baked donut, the only kind I mess with, to be honest. But to make sure we still get a bit of crunch and that slightly oily feeling we associate with a donut, I dip these in melted coconut oil. It soaks in to the outside of the cake donut and creates almost a bit of a crunch.

I double-dip these into a sugar-and-spice blend that includes a hint of black pepper. The donut is already sweet enough, so I love amping up the flavor in the outside spice mix!
