Chapter 20
Alisha
âYou are not signing the papers!â Ranveerâs voice roars through the room. The sudden intrusion jolts me, and I almost drop the mobile. My heart starts palpitating while a shiver runs down my spine as I imagine him all furious.
I close my eyes as I talk on the phone. âSiddh, Iâll call you back.â
âThe hell you will!â He raises his voice by several decibels. Goosebumps spring up all over my body when I feel him behind me.
Pulling in a deep breath, I turn to face him and try to be calm, even though my heart is pounding so wildly that I feel itâs going to jump out of my chest. âWhy are you eavesdropping on my conversation?â
His eyebrows come together as he invades my space. âAre you kidding me? Is that really the question you want to fucking ask me right now?â
Iâm befuddled to see the steam coming out of his ears. The menacing look on his face makes it difficult for me to figure out what the matter is. âWell, you did snoop in, which I am not really happy about,â I say, my voice shaky though I try to get a hold of myself.
âYou think I should not be worried about my wife talking to her ex-boyfriend?â His face comes closer to mine and I notice his jaw clench, which makes my stomach cramp in response.
âYou... haveâ¦â I try to look away, but his hands hold my jaw, forcing my face back towards his.
âAnd you have been in touch with him, which you failed to inform me,â he spits out in a thunderously low voice.
âWhy bother to tell you when you have your ways of finding? I am well aware that Ajay is still following me. So donât you dare pretend to be surprised that you are not aware of whatâs going on in my life,â I try to defend myself.
âWhen you know me so well, then you should also know that I wonât let you push me away. So, stop trying and wasting your time. There is only one outcome. You will remain my wife and that will not change. Anyone who tries to get close to you or even dreams of taking you away from me, will repent.â His facial muscles are taut as he warns me while his hands wrap around my waist, pulling me closer to him.
âYou sound like a psychopath at the moment,â I say, trying to wiggle free.
âProbably, but that doesnât change the fact you are my wife. Iâm done with giving you the time and space. Now I am taking charge. You are not signing those damn papers,â he growls, his grip tightening on my waist, making me wince.
âYou are not the one to make that decision,â I yell, catching him off guard. âYou donât have a say as far as that is concerned. Itâs my decision to make, and I wonât let you change my mind,â I argue and try to create distance between us.
âYou donât think I have a say?â he repeats.
