7.2.1 Contents and Structure of the COSA

The COSA (version 2.1) consists of 25 items which the child marks independently by using the given symbols of smileys and stars. To make it easier for the reader to understand, the items 1–5 of the self-assessment form are shown in Fig. 7.1. The child’s answers give information as to how he/she perceives his/her activity performance (smileys), e. g. ‘I have a big problem doing this’ or ‘I am really good at doing this’. Marking the stars allows the child to express interests, priorities and values.

Estimating the value of an activity highlights those areas where the child is satisfied or dissatisfied with his/her performance.
