5. Repeat this exercise, but do it for someone else involved in your main story line. You may have to interview the person depending on how well you know them. The goal is to understand what drives the other people who are part of your story. The more you can flesh out their characters, the richer and more nuanced your entire memoir will become. Life is usually gray, not black and white. And while you might approach a set of circumstances from one point of view and series of windows into your life, the other characters are approaching the same situation from the basis of entirely different experiences and motivations.
