38.6 Conclusion

Anterior thoracolumbar instrumentation remains a useful option in the treatment of spinal instability secondary to loss of anterior column integrity. Attention to anatomical constraints, appropriate selection of implants, and meticulous surgical technique all contribute to excellent outcome in appropriate cases.
