1. The Geese Who Went on a Journey{135}

Old Nani{136} used to tell a story about the geese. He said that some old men used to tell him when he was young about how some geese started from the north. Each of them had twelve pieces of bread. They were going far to the south. A large group went. They kept going for twelve days without stopping and then they got there.{137}

2. Rat and Mouse Argue

Rat and Mouse had a quarrel. Rat piles a lot of sticks up to live in. Mouse said to him, “You have a bad home. All you have are some things piled up there.”

Rat answered, “My food doesn’t make people sick. People can come around even though I pile up snake bones.{138} You live in a dirty hole. Anybody who eats your food gets sick.”

3. The Robber-Fly People

Robber-flies were people once. And they talked just as we do. Robber-fly has something that looks like a lump on his back.

He said, “You think this is a hump on my back, but it’s the way I carry my meat.” He sang a song then. He sang:
