Embryological movement

The posterior part of the movement of the hypophysis is downward from the hypothalamus, slightly in front of the anterior wall of the first fold, and because of this the movement of the neurohypophysis is partially linked to the flexion capacity of the first fold.

The anterior part of the movement of the hypophysis is upward through the sphenoid bone between the presphenoid and postsphenoid, its axis following the vomer. The two parts merge to form the definitive hypophysis.
