Mii Amo’s seamless indoor/outdoor design blends chic, modern style with Boynton Canyon’s soaring red cliffs, a soothing yet stimulating backdrop for three-, four- and seven-night “personal journeys” tailored to each guest’s goals: de-stress, spiritual exploration, etc. Rates begin at $1,600/night for a three-night package, which includes accommodations in one of 16 spa casitas and suites, three meals a day, and two spa treatments every day, as well as fitness classes, spa amenities, and activities like tennis, hiking, and mountain biking. The small, communal setting is perfect for solo travelers who want to balance personal time and socializing.

Subtle isn’t the word for Adobe Grand Villas (35 Hozoni Dr., 800/900-7616 or 928/203-7616, www.adobegrandvillas.com, $399–699 d), where themed “mansion-style” suites start at 850 square feet, each with at least one king-size bed and two fireplaces. (One suite has lantern chandeliers and a canopy bed designed to look like a Conestoga wagon.) Some rooms feature steam showers and tubs for two, while others offer red-rock views, private patios, and wood-beam ceilings.
