The photograph above was mailed from Dent in 1953 by the man holding the fish. The town of Dent is in Otter Tail County, which has hundreds of lakes within its borders. On the back of the photograph, the man wrote, “Fish or no fish, it is beautiful up here.”

An angler displays a nice catch of northern pike and walleye in this c. 1930 postcard from Battle Point Resort, near Osakis. Long wooden docks such as this one were common in the 1900s but were often damaged over time by winter ice. Today, many docks have wheels or are built in sections so they can be removed from the water before the lake freezes over.
