Inhale and sweep one extended arm out to the side then up toward the ceiling while reaching down to the ground with the other arm. Exhale as you lower your arm. Repeat on the other side. (See figure 5.26.)
Half-moon pose: Inhale and sweep both extended arms out to the side then up toward the ceiling. As you exhale, bend to the side, as if you were sandwiched between two panes of glass. Maintain length through your spine. Inhale and reach up toward the ceiling again. Exhale and bend to the opposite side, with your arms still stretched overhead. With another inhale, return to the center, and as you exhale, lower your hands back to your sides. (See figure 5.27.)
