She drew away from him, ending their kiss, her chest heaving as she lost herself in swirling amber eyes that stared down at her as if she was the most beautiful, most desirable woman in the world.

Her heart skipped a beat at the look in Adonis’ eyes, his feelings so openly revealed in the golden beauty of his tawny gaze.

She wondered what he saw when he looked into her own eyes. The pleasure he invoked, the desires he fulfilled? Or did he see what she so desperately tried to hide from him, from herself—the look of a woman who sought love, and offered it in return. With death hovering all around them, she offered her heart, and demanded his in return.
