Contributing to Teams:

When people can see and measure the way their work is improving other people’s lives, they do better work and enjoy their jobs more. See if you can help bring more objectivity to group discussions about how your work is improving lives, and quantify this as much as possible.

Be the voice of reason, results, and data when the teams around you are making decisions. While emotions and feelings matter, make sure you also come armed with facts so discussions maintain some objectivity about how to do the most meaningful work in the future.

Identify one person who could benefit most by learning from your experiences and knowledge base. Dedicate at least an hour each week to the development and growth of this person.

Think about how you intend to invest in the ongoing development of one specific person, and create a long-term plan for it today. There is likely no greater contribution you can make to someone’s growth.

Remember that while most of us likely do some meaningful work each day, we don’t usually take the time to acknowledge or recognize these small victories. You can be the one who in almost any setting recognizes great work during a busy day.

Teach people about the importance of identifying and building on natural talents. When you show other people not just how to uncover their strengths but also how to build on them, they can experience exponential growth.
