Marc tells me that the drunkard I reprimanded the other day is dead.

Some cannot bear the stitching, but I imagine it is less uncomfortable than choking to death on parts of your own person. He died of stupidity, and that is the entirety of the matter.

We have a party to plan for. A Moorish harem! The gentlemen will all be in turbans, and we have been inventing a dance. There are ladders all over the salon hanging fabrics from the ceiling, and a parade of cushion-vendors and carpet sellers. I found a snake charmer, but Lisette will not let the creature in the apartments. I think it is the first time she ever said no to me.

I gifted her a curio from the market: a carving in some exotic wood, in shape entirely obscene. She laughed her fairy-laugh at this, and kissed it, and laughed some more.
