¼ teaspoon black pepper
2 bay leaves
½ teaspoon thyme leaves, dried
2 tablespoons celery flakes, dried
¼ cup instant beef bouillon
¼ cup dried onions, minced
2 tablespoons parsley flakes, dried
½ cup dried lentils
3/4 cup medium pearl barley, separated
For Beef Barley Soup:
10 cups water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 pound lean hamburger or 2 pound beef chuck, boneless, cut in 1/2-inch pieces
