2.3.2 Accessing the database

The programmes designed for accessing the database fulfil the following functions:

1.

Example search: to look up examples from the database illustrating the usage of structural and other items

2.

Vocabulary search: for looking up words from the dictionary or other parts of the database

3.

Kanji search: for looking up kanji through by reading, stroke count or a combination of radical and stroke count

4.

Preparation of vocabulary and kanji lists: for making vocabulary lists for a text by linking a specified text to the dictionary database

5.

Preparation of examination questions: adapting specimen tests accessed from the test database on the basis on content category and grade of difficulty

6.

Preparation of teaching materials, including textbooks: by using various components of the database

7.

Individual database management: through adding to the existing database by individual inputting of material, and adjusting it
