Although it’s possible that another version of the robot will come out before this book goes to print, the version we use today is much more user friendly. By moving the pivot point to the top and enabling the entire robot to rotate over the patient, we no longer need to move the bed to crazy places all over the room. The scrub technician is no longer stranded in the corner, and anesthesia is no longer alienated. This has enabled more flexibility in the surgery. By allowing better access to patient anatomy, surgery can be performed more efficiently.
