Setting up your lists
So, there you have it: the five lists that comprise your second brain. It’s a bit more complicated than just writing a to-do list on the back of an old piece of paper – and it might take you a few days or even weeks to get fully used to it – but that’s the difference between something that works and something that doesn’t. So, if you feel like you’ve kept to-do lists but they’ve never stopped you from feeling stressed, or that you need a bit more clarity and control in your working world, then keeping an up-to-date second brain will do exactly that. We will focus later on the habit of reviewing your second brain weekly and daily (as part of the ‘Weekly Checklist’ chapter), which will help you with the challenge of making these new habits and approaches actually stick.
