She noted that these strategies lead to four core abilities in information literacy, namely:

recalling (remembering what has been gathered, and what needs to be featured);

summarizing (taking the ideas and arranging them into a summary);

paraphrasing (retelling the finding, but in one’s own words); and

extending (extracting the essential ideas from what has been explored, connecting this information with what is already known, and creatively applying new perspectives to the information).
