Procter & Gamble has done an excellent job concentrating on its core competency. Until recently, the CIO of P&G was Filippo Passerini, and he helped the company concentrate on its core competency and develop an ecosystem of companies to handle business IT functions outside that core competency by establishing P&G’s Global Business Services (GBS) unit. The GBS business unit consists of direct P&G employees and business functions as well as an ecosystem of partners that provide shared business services to P&G’s global business units.
