Water bottles have expiration dates, but it’s not because the sealed water will go bad. In fact, the only reason why bottled water products have expiration dates is because some states, most notably New Jersey, have laws stating that every consumable product must have an expiration date on it. This includes things that don’t really expire, like water. You will see expiration dates on these bottles regardless of where you live. There is no real reason to be concerned about these dates.

Also, if you have gathered some kind of water from an outside source, or you have opened the seal on a bottle of water, then you should discard whatever is not used about a week or two after you first open it. Old water can be a breeding ground for bacteria.
