Our next communication challenge will be to connect the billions of people who still don’t have access to the internet.

Once again, just to confirm the idea that we are transitioning to ‘The Age of the Entrepreneur’ (where billionaires replace government functions), in 2016 there were some interesting developments on expanding internet access.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder, announced he was bringing together a project team (even including some of his biggest competitors) to solve the challenge of communities and countries that didn’t have the resources to get everyone online. Zuckerberg and his highly creative collaborative team have some radical and disruptive ideas to make it happen, from supplying satellite internet stations connected by lasers to solar-powered planes that fly above our weather systems to provide the technical capability to deliver bandwidth to outlying communities.

Once again, an approach that comes from a disruptive generation has now actually become part of the establishment itself. That life force is now changing the landscape of a globally connected world faster than has ever happened in history before.
