What is the lowest floor bid you should accept? The best way to determine the right floor bid is to take the first bid you receive and see whether that bidder is willing to have his offer be a floor. Don’t accept a floor bid unless it’s enough to cover your costs in writing the book. Remember, if you accept a floor, you are bound to accept that amount as your advance unless there is another, higher bid.

House floor: If you have not received a floor bid, you can set a house floor, which stipulates that no bids will be accepted below a certain level.
