Prevention

•If you don’t like cannabis because you previously consumed too much and became anxious and withdrawn (like I used to), learn to fall back in love with the plant by experimenting with small doses in relaxing settings where you can control your surroundings. Over time, you’ll learn to titrate (mindfully monitor) your dose, and can begin to add more or consume in less secure environments.

•Stick to lower-THC strains, as other cannabinoids mitigate the adverse effects of THC. Or try indicas, as they have terpenes that assist in bodily awareness and relaxation rather than energizing the mind.

•Add other smokable herbs to your joints or vapes. Damiana, mullein, catnip, and blue lotus are just some of the legal smokable herbs out there that you can add to decrease the potency of your ganja while still enjoying the experience.

•Interestingly, up to one in five people are not suited to THC because they lack the enzyme that breaks down anandamide (the naturally occurring endocannabinoid that resembles THC). As a result, these people have a higher baseline for it, and additional THC causes anxiety. If these prevention tips don’t help, stick to higher-CBD strains, cannabis topicals, and hemp protein powder.
