Entrepreneurialism as a distorted view

Marxist conceptions of ideology have always stressed that ideologies are a partial view of reality. Entrepreneurialism as an ideology for rural projects does not really come to terms with the high rate of failure of projects based in entrepreneurial designs. The constant effort to create entrepreneurial success legitimizes current power structures and the neo-liberal policy settings established for the economy. What these projects imply is that anyone who works hard and is intelligent can make their own success in the new South Africa. All that is needed is a bit of start up capital, a good idea for a business plan, and some expert guidance, which the developmental state can help to provide.
