We're about to sketch out the basic principles of the Five Waves sequence for you now. The specific tools and conversational strategies you'll be using with each Wave will be covered in future chapters.

Regardless of the industry you're targeting, you'll need to get two very important pieces of information before you can put your "Wave" in motion.

1. VITO's name.

2. VITO's Private Assistant's name.

If you don't have this information, you can't really do anything with what follow.; so you're going to need to track this data down.

You can usually get VITO's name through publicly available channels like the website of VITO, Inc., or the Chamber of Commerce directory, or any number of other purchasable directories, or a Google search that combines the name of the company with phrases like "CEO" or "founder." If you budget your time, you really can get quite a lot out of this process, especially the on-line search. These days, it's probably a mistake not to Google the VITO you're about to reach out to. If there's a recent news article or press release that prominently mentions VITO, you're definitely going to want to know about that.
