Chapter Seventeen
I WOKE UP FEELING TOO hot. I refused to open my eyes and tried to throw away whatever was covering me. Turned out to be more of a challenge than I’d expected. I peered down to the top of David’s head resting on my chest, his leg bent over mine, and his right arm all the way around me and under my pillow. As I tried to dislodge him, I realized I was trapped. And he’d only worn his boxers to bed. Hello, morning boner poking my thigh. I then realized I wasn’t in any better state, so I renewed my efforts to free myself.
I slowly turned on my side and almost escaped. Just as I finally grasped my freedom, David pulled me closer, molding his body to mine and spooning me for dear life. His hard cock rubbed against my ass and that angered me. I elbowed him and he groaned. Without even opening his eyes, he caught my wrists and held them together in one hand. Bastard!
“Are you going to wake up and let me go anytime soon?”
“Five minutes,” David mumbled and proceeded to nuzzle the back of my neck. My hair must have tickled him, because he moved his head away long enough to push my long strands over my shoulder and hide back behind me.
“Are you fucking kidding me? I’m not your body pillow.”
“Shut up and let me sleep or I’ll gag you.”
I bristled even more at his rough warning. “Try it and I’ll fucking fire you.”
David released me and rolled to his back. “Fucking hell! The one morning I don’t need to wake up at the crack of dawn.”
“How do you know it’s the crack of dawn?” It looked late to me. The sun was shining outside, the birds were chirping and making a lot of noise. I could even hear voices on the floor below ours.
“My alarm is set for 7.30. It hasn’t gone off yet. Which means it’s the crack of dawn.” He turned his back to me, cocooning himself in the sheets.
I sat up, leaning against the headboard and glared at him. “Since when are you not a morning person? I’m the grumpy one.”
“Since you tossed and turned all night. I woke you up a few times, nightmares and such. Then you snuggled next to me and finally fell asleep.”
“I did no such thing!”
He turned, faster than anyone who’d just woken up had a right to, and threw his pillow at me. “Can’t you just thank me and then shut up so I can fall asleep again?”
I wanted to say I couldn’t, but my jaw fell, eyes glued to his bare torso. God damn it, he looked good. Perfect male form, flawless skin, and those strained muscles because he was angry. The sight of him blinded me. And rendered me stupid. I caught myself and hid my shame under a thick layer of anger. “Well, I can’t sleep. Let’s get ready and see if there’s any news.”
He sighed and waved me off.
