Scene Three

They stood in the entrance of the barn, holding their beers by the necks.

John put his bottle down after taking a swig. Thirsty himself, Henry took a good slug.

“John.”

“Uh—yes?”

“It’s okay to be a little shy.”

“Er…okay.”

Henry stepped forward and put his bottle down on the ledge beside John’s.

Turning, he stood in front of John.

“Can I have a hug?”

John took a step, and staring down into Henry’s face, he calmly and gently wrapped his arms around him.

“Yes.”

Slowly, John’s hands moved down as Henry buried his face in John’s big shoulder.

The feel of John’s hands on his bottom was a kind of relief.

Henry swayed at the hips, just enjoying the moment. Then he looked up.

“How do you want to do this?”

“Wha—what?”

“You’re as scared as I am, John.”

Those clear blue eyes locked on his from several inches away. Henry tipped his head back, closed his eyes, parted his lips and prayed.

He’d never been kissed by a man before.

He found he quite liked it.
