17 – Sailor’s Casserole

This recipe is passed down from one generation to the next, in Finland. It will be best if prepared only with pale lager, not a dark beer. As much Finnish food is, this dish may tend to be salty, so you can test and adjust the seasonings in any way you prefer.

Makes 4-6 Servings

Cooking + Prep Time: 3 hours & 5 minutes

Ingredients:

1 bay leaf

1 cup of broth, beef

1 cup of pale lager (must be pale)

1/2 tsp. of allspice, ground

8 potatoes, medium

2 peeled & sliced onions, medium

2 tbsp. of butter

1 pound of steak, round

1 tbsp. of parsley, chopped

2 tsp. of salt, kosher

1/8 tsp. of pepper, ground
