Human Body

While any mammal could be elaborated on, I'd like to focus on the human body, as it's what we can most relate to. You don't need to be an anatomy professor to realize how complicated the human body is. The organ system in particular is a complex, interconnected system in the human body. We have many different organs which together, allow us to live. The heart pumps your blood, the brain sends signals throughout your body, the kidneys filter your blood, etc. How did this system "evolve" into place? If just one of your organs malfunctions or is removed (except for half a kidney or an appendix), the human body fails to operate and we die. The human body itself is the epitome of irreducible complexity.

Many times you may hear evolutionists bring up "vestigial organs." These are "useless" organs, which "serve no purpose" and are still inside the body because they were never dissociated from past evolutionary ancestors. A prime example the evolutionary community has pointed to in the human body is the appendix. The issue with the appendix is we really didn't know what it did, so evolutionists automatically assumed it was a "vestigial organ." This in turn helped to perpetuate their theory, as if we have "useless organs," there is no intelligent designer. While we have made large strides in medical discoveries over the past century, we still don't know everything.

As we are now discovering, the appendix is not a "vestigial organ," and does serve a purpose. Studies have found it to be involved in storing good bacteria and making white blood cells. Long term studies have also shown there are potential negative side effects of people who have had their appendix removed. This all goes to show that just because we have not yet discovered the purpose of something does not mean it's "useless."

What's funny is complexity in all other areas of study except for biology is considered evidence of design. Look at reports of alien visitors when elaborate crop circles are discovered, finding prehistoric tools in the ground, or stumbling upon ancient monuments like Stonehenge. You would be laughed at in the scientific community if you proposed something as complex as Stonehenge was produced naturally over millions of years from wind, rain, and a possible electric spark. However this is exactly what the theory of evolution proposed happened with living organisms (which are infinitely more complex). Quite a dilemma we have here.
