Giuseppe Garibaldi II (1879–1950) was the grandson of the Garibaldi who unified Italy. He was born in Australia and participated in the Boer War in South Africa. Along with others from that conflict, Garibaldi came to Mexico and served during the beginning of the Mexican Revolution. He set up the medical assistance that would be needed during the battle. He was at the Battle of Juárez and is in many of the pictures of that conflict. However, Villa kicked him out of the army. He returned to Europe where he participated in the first Balkan War and World War I. A plaza in Mexico City is named in his honor. In this photograph, Garibaldi is on the left. An unidentified reporter is on the right.
