Cold and flu prevention

Although flu vaccines are available, flu vaccination is a much-debated topic. While there is evidence that vaccination against seasonal flu has benefit for the long-term health of high-risk groups, it is important to understand that the emergence of new mutant flu virus strains is unpredictable and that vaccines can be made only against virus strains that already exist. Flu vaccination is only partially effective because the vaccine does not give resistance to all possible strains of the virus, and adverse reactions to the vaccine are relatively common. It is therefore very important to take a “prevention is better than cure” attitude toward flu (and colds), doing everything possible to maintain a strong immune system through good diet and healthy lifestyle.

We are constantly surrounded by cold and flu viruses. To strengthen your resistance to colds and flu, ensure good nutrition, manage your stress levels, and try to avoid alcohol, tobacco, recreational drugs, chemicals, excess sugar intake, high levels of dietary cholesterol and other fats, dehydration, and over-exposure to hot or cold. Flu is highly infectious and usually occurs in epidemics that peak in winter.
