SUPPLEMENTS

The following supplements are used in the Seven-Day Cleansing Program for specific reasons. So that you may more fully appreciate the usefulness of these items, I present here brief explanations of their properties. Information about selected suppliers appears in Appendix B.

Alfalfa

Alfalfa tablets contain all the fiber material from the stems and leaves of the alfalfa plant. This fiber acts as a bulk and a material that a ballooned or weakened bowel can work against to develop improved tone. This encourages a faster transit time. I use this supplement for practically every patient who needs to build bowel tone. Although alfalfa offers the proper bulk, it sometimes produces more gas when a lazy bowel is stirred. For this reason, I sometimes use a couple of digestive-enzyme tablets along with the alfalfa to help get rid of the gas. Alfalfa is also a natural source of silicon and chlorophyll.
