Do people on the Other Side age?
The thing to bear in mind is that physical age has nothing to do with spiritual age. Someone on this side could live only a short time, but still be a very old soul. Conversely, someone could live to be seventy-five and still be a child in spiritual terms. On that side a baby who has died is not a baby. This spirit may come through to me as “I am the nine-month-old baby my mother lost,” but this is just for the purposes of letting the person know for sure that it is their baby. People always want to know why God would take a child, but to me that’s the wrong question. I always wonder about the souls who would volunteer to come here when they know that maybe they will experience a fatal illness, or genetic disorder, or be abused or murdered. But the ripple effect created by their short lives and deaths reaches so far; they contribute so much. And, of course, where they have gone back to now is so much better.
But to the broader question, it seems to me that there is no fixed age that someone may be on that side. I believe you can pick your age. I know that my father does not appear to me as an old man and my brother does not appear to me as a sick man. They are both young and beautiful on the Other Side. It’s most likely that spirits get to pick the age they feel most perfect, most themselves at. But I do know that when a client comes for a reading the person he is trying to reach will usually appear in a form that the client knew her so she will be recognized. A grandparent, for instance, won’t show himself as twenty-something because his grandchild never knew him in the flesh like that.
