Limitations: Humans as Fallen

We cannot find the image of God by simply looking at creation—the key to understanding humanity is Jesus Christ, the one image of the invisible God (Col 1:15; 2 Cor 4:4; Heb 1:3). We must confess that all of humanity and every aspect of creation is impacted by sin and recognize that there is simply no exemption from sin in the form of “holy innocents” for persons with intellectual disabilities—people with intellectual disabilities need the intervention and grace of God like everyone else. The limitation of our resources in properly imaging God has to do with the direction and purity of our love and nothing to do with the fact that we have limits (physical, intellectual, sensory) as contingent creatures.
