DEAR GOD,

Thank you for showing me how to forgive. The deep caves of jagged rock where I hide my wounds are not too dirty for your presence.

I didn’t want you to see what I keep in those shrouded places,

afraid you’d be repulsed by my bitter secrets

and dumpsters of pain piled high and rotting,

but your waters flowed there,

washing over my infected wounds.

I was afraid,

but the waters continued to flow

until it was finished

and I was new.
