After Pearson and I hit Mass, took communion, and were fed, both naturally and supernaturally Adara, Lena, and I played catch in the Nuncio’s backyard. We varied between a baseball, a football (American, not European), and a soccer ball. It was in part to entertain the girls, in part to blow off some steam, and in part to exercise Lena’s telekinesis. She didn’t catch a single ball with her hands. It helped her with speed and accuracy since she was much more gentle throwing balls back to Adara than she was to me.

Lena didn’t even break a window. That was Adara; that was my story if anyone asked. Thankfully, no one did.

After catch, Pearson called to check in with XO at the Vatican. Lena and Adara took a nap.

I called Mariel to give her an update on what had been going on.

She said, “Murder Berg? Really? The Soviets. So subtle.”

“Tell me about it.” I explained what happened there and what we found.

Mariel paused for a moment. “So you’re going to a rock concert tonight with a rock band who wants to worship Satan. This should end well.”

I chuckled. “Yeah. I know. We’ll see how it goes.”

We talked for a few more minutes, then hung up. I thought to settle in for the afternoon, catch up on rest before tonight’s excursion. I collapsed into the temporary room they had set up for me. I rolled my eyes and let myself sleep.
