A more familiar variation of this possible problem of correlation but not necessarily causation is shown in the following example.

In the UK there has been a big increase in interest in health, fitness, and fashion among many young males in their 20s. They want to find out how to get and then stay in shape. They also want information on style and careers. As a result of this increase in interest, there has been an increase in the readership of magazines such as Men’s Health. There has also been a decline in the readership of various ‘lad mag’ titles such as FHM, Zoo, and Nuts. Therefore young men are far more interested in looking after their own bodies than looking at pictures of those of minor TV and film actresses.
